One week after obtaining a podium in Mobihan, Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux returns to Brittany this weekend for two classics in the Finistère department.
On Saturday, the Tour du Finistère (1.1) is ridden on a 196 kilometer course around Quimper, which is very selective each year. The winner of 2016 and third of 2019, Baptiste Planckaert, finished fifth last year in a group of thirty riders.
After 156 kilometer, the riders reach the local circuit which contains the climbs Voie Romane (1km at 5,2%) and Meilh Stang Vihan (700m at 6%). It is at the top of this climb that the riders will fight for the victory at the end of the fourth lap.
The next day, the classic Boucles de l’Aulne (1.1) is composed of three loops around Châteaulin. Just like on Saturday, the 175 kilometer parcours contains short climbs such as Menez Quelerc’h (2.9km at 6%) on the second circuit.
In its two previous participations, Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux always managed to finish in the top five. In 2018, even four riders ended in the top ten.
For these two races of the French Cup, the selection of six riders under the direction of Pieter Vanspeybrouck is composed of Jan Bakelants, Théo Delacroix, Laurens Huys, Hugo Page, Baptiste Planckaert and Kévin Van Melsen.
