Dylan Vandenstorme wins and conquers the yellow jersey

This Wednesday 12th of July, Dylan Vandenstorme became the eighth different rider of Circus-ReUz-Technord to win this season. The 21 year old Belgian rider won the first stage of the Giro Valle d'Aosta and conquered the first leader's jersey.

He was the fastest in a sprint with a small group after spending more than half of the race of this opening stage around Arvier on the attack, finishing six seconds ahead of the peloton to take his first victory with the team directed by Kévin Van Melsen.

In addition to the yellow jersey, Vandenstorme is also leading the points and mountains classification. Circus-ReUz-Technord is leading the teams classification after this opening stage.

"Today I was chosen as the protected rider in the only stage without uphill finish in this Giro Valle d'Aosta. Our team was represented in each breakaway attempt. In the end, it was halfway through the race that the final breakaway of fifteen riders with Victor Hannes and myself was formed. On the five kilometer climb in the final I was in survival mode. But then I managed to escape with two other riders and to win in the sprint. After several podiums this season I'm so happy to take my first victory in the colours of Circus-ReUz-Technord. I want to thank the structure for all opportunities I was given. Never I would have imagined to wear the yellow jersey in this race for pure climbers. I will enjoy this victory and from tomorrow, I will race in support of our leader Alexy Faure towards the top of Val Veny."
